WATERFRONTS is an international initiative that merges art, marine sciences, and social engagement to address the growing impact of climate change on Europe’s coastal communities. The project empowers young artists and emerging cultural organizations in Gothenburg (Sweden), Lesvos (Greece), and Zadar (Croatia) to co-create innovative, arts-based solutions that respond to environmental challenges and the rising eco-anxiety among waterfront communities.

By fostering collaboration between artists, climate experts, policymakers, and local citizens, WATERFRONTS explores how culture can act as a catalyst for environmental awareness, resilience, and well-being.

Through a combination of artistic productions, community-driven initiatives, and research-based strategies, WATERFRONTS demonstrates the essential caregiving role of culture in protecting marine ecosystems and waterfront communities.

Project partners: Gotaland (Sweden), Latra (Greece) and IM industries (Croatia).
