Ivan Mrdjen gained his first professional experience during his academic years, collaborating on the Performance Studies International Conference (PSI15) in Zagreb (2009), followed by Dance Week Festival in 2010 and 2011. From 2012 to 2016, he worked closely with the Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance (HIPP) on the realization of five editions of the Dance Week Festival, the implementation of five EU-funded projects, and spent four years as a producer and manager at the Zagreb Dance Center.
In 2017, he co-founded the company Spotlight with Tena Bošnjaković. In addition to the previously mentioned work on the website, Spotlight facilitated numerous short-term and project-based collaborations across various cultural and creative initiatives. These included administrative and financial coordination for several editions of Audioart Festival (an experimental and improvised music festival in Pula), grant writing support for Regular.company (a multidisciplinary design studio), as well as administrative, production, and management support for a range of independent organizations (Liberdance, Andreina soba, etc.) and artists (Jelena Remetin, Filipa Bavčević, Suzana Nikolić, etc.).
