Studio Contemporary Dance Company Begins Creation of New Premiere in Zadar

From August 17th to 23rd, Studio Contemporary Dance Company (SSP) held an artistic residency at the Youth Center in Zadar with acclaimed choreographer Astrid Boons. This residency marked the beginning of a new research process for SSP’s upcoming premiere, set to debut in December 2025 at the Zagreb Youth Theatre.

Throughout the week-long residency, the company engaged in creative exploration with Astrid Boons, delving into initial choreographic ideas, movement vocabularies, and conceptual foundations that will shape the final work. The residency provided a focused and supportive environment for early-stage artistic development, offering valuable time and space for research without immediate production pressure.

The residency was realized in collaboration with Zadar Dance Ensemble, continuing a long-standing relationship between the two organizations and affirming their joint commitment to supporting contemporary dance creation across Croatia.

The project is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, and the Kultura Nova Foundation.
